He was a great Irish political figure, a national hero. Arthur Wellesley was a powerful advocate of Homeopathy, a strong supporter of London Homeopathic Hospital and also the Homeopathic Hospital of Smyrna. He treated his colleagues with Homeopathic remedies, and was on the management board of the Association for the Trial of Preventative and Curative Treatment in the Cattle Plague by the Homeopathic Method.
