Dr. Allen Corson Cowperthwaite (1848-1926)

He was the Dean and Professor of Materia Medica and Diseases of Women in the University of Iowa, and as well the Professor of Materia Medica, Pharmacology and Clinical Medicine in the University of Michigan.

Dr. Allen Cowperthwaite has filled a number of offices in connection with the state and national Homeopathic societies, and he is the author of various works, notably "Insanity in its Medico-Legal Relations" (1876), "A Textbook of Materia Medica and Therapeutics" (1880), of "Gynecology" (1888), and of "The Practice of Medicine " (1901). In 1876 he received the honorary degree of Doctor of Philosophy from the Central University of Iowa, and in 1888 the degree of Doctor of Laws from Shurtleff College.
