He is likewise a preserver of health if he knows the things that derange health and cause disease, and how to remove them from persons in health.

In this aphorism Master Hahnemann explained the role of the physician as a preserver of health.

Prevention is better than cure.

A physician should not work only as a medical practitioner but as a preserver of health also.

What is health?

The state of being free from illness or injury.
The condition of being sound in body, mind, or spirit.
“State of complete physical, mental, and social well being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.”( WHO definition of health )

What is preservation?

Preservation — to keep alive or in existence; make lasting. to keep safe from harm or injury; protect or spare.

What is the preservation of health?

To maintain and save the health in its original natural form that is sound in mind, body and spirit.

If a physician wants to preserve the health then he should know the things that derange health and cause disease.

What are things which can derange health and cause disease?

The mind under continuous stress can cause different types of diseases. Negative emotions like anger, grief, hatred, greed, lust, pride can affect the spirit which makes the individual susceptible to diseases.
Man adapted many things as a part of modern sophisticated life style but actually those are not going with nature so can derange the natural health of man.

Late night work, late waking, crops cultivated by using chemical fertilisers, lack of exercise and walking, addictions like tea and alcohol, use of allopathic medicines, spicy junk food, indulgence in porn sites likewise many things of modern lifestyle can derange health and causes disease.

Once physician comes to know about the things that derange health and cause disease then he should know how to remove them from persons in health.

Prayer, the practice of Yoga and Pranayam can maintain the health of mind and spirit. Spiritual awareness about negative emotions can help to manage mental stress. Physical exercise and proper diet can take care of physical fitness. Simple and natural lifestyle can maintain the natural health.
