NUTRITION FOR GOOD HEALTH

Magnesium is a macromineral that is present in bones and muscles, though not as abundantly as calcium and phosphorus.

Magnesium deficiency has been suggested as a factor contributing to the pathogenesis of several chronic diseases. a decline in magnesium status can bring about anorexia, nausea, muscluar weakness, lethargy and weight loss.

Both dysrhythmias and myocardial ischemia have been attributed to low magnesium intakes.

Food sources include green leafy vegetables, shellfish, soya flour, tea, coffee, nuts and cocoa. Highly refined and polished cereals have extremely low magnesium levels.
