Muscular cramps are very peculiar to this breed. It mainly affects the hind limbs when they run and consists of muscular spasms. The chief theory among the many are that there is a calcium deficiency and fatigue. It closely resembles the Azoturia in horses, the difference being that there is an appearance of muscle pigment in the urine.
